Virgil Laverne Anderson
March 28, 1914 --- January 28, 1984Virgil Laverne Anderson, 69, died Saturday at the Hamilton County Hospital where he had been a patient the past week.
Funeral services will be Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. at St. John's Lutheran church in Kanawha with the Rev. William Perks officiating and with burial in the Norway Township cemetery near Kanawha. Visitation will be Monday evening and until noon Tuesday at the Carter Funeral home in Kanawha and at the church until time of services.
Virgil Laverne Anderson was born March 28, 1914, at Story City, son of Severien and Celia Anderson.
He was married to Viola Peterson July 20, 1935, at Story City and they had farmed in the Kanawha area for 48 years before moving into Webster City in 1983 to spend the winter.He is survived by his wife; his mother, Celia Anderson of Kanawha; one son, Kenneth Anderson of Blairsburg; four daughters, Mrs. Harold (Colleen) Brower of Webster City, Mrs. Maylene Halfpop of Belmond, Mrs. Dee (Mary Ann) Layton of Newport Beach, Calif., and Dawn Bartik of Sierra Vista, Ariz.; 14 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and four sisters.
He was a member of St. John's Lutheran church and active in the church.
