The death of Comrade Charles H. Griffith came Monday morning early after an illness but of a few days. The funeral services were held at the Methodist church on Wednesday at 1:30, Rev. Chapler, assisted by Rev. Lander, having charge. The short services of the G. A. R. Circle was also given at the church. The Floral Tributes were indeed very beautiful. At the grave the Odd Fellows gave their burial services and the Golden Links lodge attended the funeral in a body. The remains were taken to Goldfield where they were interred.

The pall bearers were members of the G. A. R., and that organization attended in a body. Comrades Parsons, Bauer, King, Griffith, Conner and Heckart noted as pall bearers.

Charles H. Griffith was born at North Murray Orleans county, New York on Feb. 3, 1833, being the youngest son of Samuel and Hannah Griffith. He grew to manhood in that state. In 1856 he came to Wright county, locating in Boone township. In 1863 he enlisted in defense of his country. He was a member of Company A, 32nd. Iowa Infantry. He was honorably discharged some thirteen months later. In August 1870 he was married near Goldfield to Miss Sallie Entriken. To this union were born two children. Ethelyn, now Mrs. Grant Trask, and Eugene, dying in infancy. In 1867 he located on a farm northwest of this city where he made his home until three years ago when he established his home in Eagle Grove. Of a family of ten children who grew to manhood and womanhood three sisters only are living: Mrs. Nancy Daniels, Mrs. Mary Danielson [Donelson] and Mrs. Hannah McIntire, all living in Goldfield. His faithful wife and only child are left to mourn their loss. He had reached the full number of seventy-five years. He was a kind and dutiful husband, a loving and gentle parent and a true and staunch friend. By his death one more of the Old Guard has answered the final roll call.
