Robert Eves Hine
June 18, 1921 ---- July 4, 2007

Robert Eves Hine, 86, died on Wednesday, July 4, 2007 at Bethany Lutheran Home in Sioux Falls.

Robert Eves Hine was born June 18, 1921 in Sioux City, Iowa. He graduated from Central High School and attended Morningside College and the University of Iowa. He then joined the family accounting business in Sioux City.

He married Betty J. Baker on January 22, 1943 in Sioux City. He was a pilot in the Army Air Corp during World War II. After his discharge from the service, he returned to Sioux City and re-entered the family business. In 1948 he was transferred to the Sioux Falls office. He practiced accounting and tax work here for over forty-five years, retiring in 1993.

He was a 57 year member of the First Presbyterian Church where he served as a Trustee and Elder and Church Treasurer for many years. He was a member of the Minnehaha Masonic Lodge #5, the Scottish Rite, the El Riad Shrine, and was a Shrine driver for crippled children. He was a member of the Elks Club, Minnehaha Country Club and was an avid golfer . He was a past president of the South Dakota Accountants Society and he was appointed by the Governor to the State Cement Plant Commission and served for several years.

He will be remembered as a devoted husband, father and grandfather. His life revolved around his family, his church, his profession and his many friends. Bob was a True Gentleman.

Grateful for having shared his life are his wife, Betty, of 64 years; two daughters, Susan Beck and husband, Gerry, of Canistota, SD; Marilyn Wagner and husband, Galen, Durham, NC; two grandchildren, Anne Kohoutek, Sioux Falls, SD; Sam J. Bell, Durham, NC; a sister, Mrs. Robert Johnson, Davenport, IA. In addition to his parents, two brothers, Richard Hine, and Darwin Hine, preceded him in death.

Private family committal rites will be held before the memorial service. Memorial services will be at 11:00 am Saturday at First Presbyterian Church. The family will be present from 6:00 to 7:00 pm Friday with a Masonic Service at 7:00 pm at Miller Funeral Home 13th & Main. Memorials may be directed to the First Presbyterian Church or the El Riad Shrine Hospital Transportation Fund.
