Florence (Hobbs) Jones (1869-1942)

Florence Hobbs was born June 14, 1869 to the parents, William Hobbs and his wife, Elizabeth Hobbs, at Bedford, Ind., and died at her home in Eagle Grove, August 7, 1942, age 73 years, 1 month and 24 days. She received the Christian baptism in the Methodist Episcopal church in infancy, and received her Christian training in the Sunday school of that church.

On April 25, 1895, she was united in marriage to George A. Jones, at Arthur, Ill. Mr. and Mrs. Jones moved to Goldfield, Iowa, soon after their marriage, and later come to Eagle Grove, where they have since lived.

Mr. Jones passed away May 10, 1935. Mrs. Jones is now survived by one son, Orval [Orville] Jones of Eagle Grove, and by two daughters, Mrs. Elizabeth Smith of Des Moines, and Mrs. Ellen Miller of Waterloo, and by ten grandchildren. Also, by two brothers, John Hobbs of Chrisman, Ill., and Aylet Hobbs of Arthur, Ill., also by one sister, Genia Hobbs of Redman, Ill.

Mrs. Jones was a kind wife and mother, a good neighbor, pleasant to meet and of a friendly nature. Her last illness was very short.

Funeral services were held Sunday, Aug. 9, from the Kubitschek and Kastler funeral home. Burial was made in the Goldfield cemetery.
