Joe O'Leary Guy, the son of Roy and Loretta (Curran) Guy was born in LuVerne, on November 28, 1936. He graduated from Vernon Consolidated School and went on to Sioux Falls Baptist College.

Joe married Eleanor Schwidder and to this union, they had five children, Dennis, Robin, Judy, Scott "Doc", and Brian.

Joe worked at the Algona Airport where he met Frank Bauer and went to school to become a Crop Duster. Joe sprayed for 50 years. He built his home in Swea City. Joe was very pleased with the home he built.

In 1989, Deb Henry and her 7-year daughter, Mary moved to Swea City, and Deb helped Joe in many areas of his farming and spraying businesses. Mary graduated from High School and moved on with her life. Deb stayed with Joe and together had a great relationship. Joe and Deb were married by Common Law, in the state of Iowa.

Joe loved flying and learning about different airplanes. Joe at 79 years old, had to finally give it up. Joe was ready and had an opportunity to sell his Air Tractor. Joe continued farming. In 2020, Joe planted his last crop of corn. He always wanted to get back into farming, but his health and his age never allowed that to happen. Joe was a member of the Renwick Baptist Church.

Joe passed away from this life on Sunday, September 26, 2021, at the Kossuth Regional Health Center in Algona. His spirit lives on, as Joe accepted Christ into his life, as a young man. He was 84.

He is survived by his common-law wife, Deb of Swea City, children, Robin Guy of LuVerne, Judy Guy of Renwick, and Brian Guy of Milford, grandchildren, Nathan and Dillon; siblings, Margaret (Myron) Haugland and Jim Guy; and many nieces and nephews. Joe was preceded in death by his sons, Scott "Doc" Guy in 1992 and Dennis Guy in 2005; father, Roy in 1977; mother, Loretta in 1987; siblings, Jack, Emily Jane, Maxine, Charlotte, Patricia, Geraldine and John.

Joe always loved to work and worked hard his entire life. It also was a healing mechanism in Joe's life of losses by working through them. It was very hard on Joe not to be able to work through his final weeks of sadness and grief.
