Obituary

Reuben Benjamin Nelson was born of parents Mr. and Mrs. Matt Nelson, Oct. 15, 1898, in the Evergreen community near Goldfield, Iowa. He had always lived with his father and mother where they began housekeeping 52 years ago, until last October when they moved from the farm home to a new bungalow on the outskirts of Goldfield.

Reuben had suffered from internal disorders for several years. On Nov. 20 he was taken to the Mercy hospital at Fort Dodge for treatment and was sent to the University Hospital at Iowa City on Dec. 9. He remained there only a short time before returning home but at home his condition became serious and he was again taken to the Mercy hospital where he passed away peacefully Tuesday afternoon, Jan. 9, 1934.

He leaves his aged father and mother, one sister, Mrs. Nellie Bangston of Goldfield and five brothers, Alfred, Clarence, Edwin, Harold and Glenn all of Evergreen and other relatives and a host of dear loyal friends. One sister, Edna, preceded him in death, having passed away at the age of eight.

He had a cheerful disposition and because of his kindly ways, he was always admired and loved.

Many out-of-town relatives and friends were present at the funeral. Those attending were Mrs. Otto Jensen, Mrs. Fred Jensen, Mr. and Mrs. Forest Christensen of Armstrong and Edward Jensen and Martin Christensen of Swea City. --Goldfield
