Wayne Allie Licklider (1915-1988)

Funeral services for Wayne Licklider, 72, were held at the Eyler-Willim Funeral Home in Clarion, Thursday, April 21, 1988 at 1:30 p.m. Rev. Willard Cunningham officiated and burial was in the Rowan Graceland Cemetery.

Casket bearers were Donald Borel, Gil Daniel, Jay Hinze, John Lager, Larry Riedel, and Alvah Thayer. Special music for the service was provided by Betty Loomis and Eugene Frohling.

Licklider died Monday, April 18, 1988 at the Clarion Community Memorial Hospital.

He was born in Goodell on November 22, 1915 to Allie and Nellie Manning Licklider. He was raised and educated in Wright County, and served in the U.S. Air Force for 38 months during World War II in the South Pacific. In 1946, he married Muriel Rietz at Rowan. Licklider retired from his job at Hagie Manufacturing in 1981.

He was a member of the United Methodist Church, of Clarion and the Rowan Legion of which he was a past commander.

Survivors include his wife, Muriel; daughter, Sheila Flatebo of Lee's Summit, Mo.; son, Dale of Raytown, Mo.; four grandchildren and one sister, Pauline Jones of Clarion.
