Marjorie J. Schmidt, 81, of Webster City, died Saturday, May 28, 2005, at her granddaughter's home in Kansas City, surrounded by her family.

Funeral services, were held at 11 a.m. on Friday, June 3, 2005, at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Webster City, with the Revs. John Grebner and Doug Tiffany officiating. Burial was at 2 p.m. in the Rose Hill Cemetery in Eagle Grove.

Mariorie J. Schmidt was born August 23, 1923, in LeMars, the daughter of Henry and and Edna (Ketman) Braband. She graduated from LeMars High School and attended Drake University receiving her degree in elementary education. She taught kindergarten and first grade in Eagle Grove for 31 years.

Marjorie was married to Gaylord Hill for 32 years and to this union a daughter and son were born. He preceded her in death. On May 29, 1976, she married Richard Schmidt. They enjoyed traveling together to such places as Mexico, Alaska, Arizona, and Texas. Marjorie had a passion and great talent for the art of egg decorating and developed a collection of well over 400 eggs. She was also an avid Iowa Hawkeye fan and supporter. She also loved spending time with her family, especially her 11 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren, with Christmas being her favorite time of the year.

She is survived by her husband, Richard; a son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Susan Hill, of Brownsburg, Indiana; a daughter, Marlene Beckley, of Eagle Grove; a step-son and his spouse, David and Mary Schmidt, of Woolstock; a step-daughter and her spouse, Gail and Ferril Harrison of Blountville, Tenn.; sister and brother-in-law, Marion and Dick Roberts, of Canon City, Colo.; and a sister, Joann Lampe, of Benedict, Neb.; 11 grandchildren, and 25 great-grandchildren. In addition to her first husband, she was preceded in death by her parents. The Foster Funeral Home of Webster City was in charge of the arrangements.
