Services Held For Sarah Xanders
Services for Sarah Xanders were conducted from the Clarion Church of Christ on May 3, 1975 at 2:00 p. m., Rev. Owen B. Wilmot officiated. Organist was Mrs. Max Andrews. Soloist was Mrs. Clair McOllough. Pallbearers were Sam Douglas, Leo Woodley, Eldred Shupe, Don Scott, Clair McOllough, Daryl Marshall. Interment was in the Goldfield Cemetery.

Sarah Pearl Xanders, daughter of Peter and Annie Duitscher, was born February 9, 1906, on a farm 5-1/2 miles north of Holmes and passed away suddenly on April 30, 1975 at her home in Clarion, Iowa at the age of 69 years. In 1908 she moved with her parents to George, Iowa, where they resided until 1914. They then returned to Lake township and the rest of her life was spent in the Clarion vicinity.

On February 9, 1938, she was united in marriage to Edgar Xanders and to this union two daughters, Evelyn and Erma, were born. They farmed for several years north of Clarion and in 1953 moved into town. She was a member of the Church of Christ in Clarion and attended church and Sunday School when she could. She was also a Member of the Royal Neighbors and the V.F.W . Auxiliary.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Gretta and Anne, and one brother, Benny. She is survived by her husband, Edgar; two daughters, (Evelyn) Mrs. Leo Toftee of Clarion and (Erma) Mrs. James Ford of Webster City, and five grandchildren. Also surviving are two sisters, Mrs. J. R. Cassens of Centerville, Iowa, and Mrs. John Van Haaften of Clarion and one brother, Paul Duitscher of Alexandria, Minnesota.

Card of Thanks: We wish to thank close friends, neighbors, relatives for their many thoughtful remembrances at the time of our loss of our beloved wife and mother. We also want to thank V.F.W. and the Royal Neighbors for the dinner, and the ladies of Church of Christ for the lunch. Your thoughtfulness will always be remembered.
