Tillie Mable Larson Nelson
22 November 1894 --- 21 May 1983

Mrs. Tillie Nelson, was born on Nov. 22, 1894 at Holmes, Iowa, the daughter of Lewis and Laura Jacobsen Larson. She attended the Jewell Lutheran College in 1915 and then became a clerk at Moores General Merchandise Store in Goldfield. On Feb. 28, 1917, she was united in marriage to Albin Nelson and they farmed near Goldfield for 50 years and celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary in 1967. She was a long-time member of the Lake Lutheran Church south of Renwick and the Evergreen Sporting Association for over 50 years. She had many hobbies, one of which was making quilts. She traveled extensively in the United States and she and Albin visited many of the relatives in Norway in 1955. All her life, she was interested in Genealogy. She researched and published the history of the Nelson and Larson-Jotten families with the latter dating back to the 1300's.

She is survived by five children, Dr. Albin J. Nelson of Nashua; LouCelle, (Mrs. Samuel) Fertik of Miami, Fl.; Robert Nelson of rural Eagle Grove; Carol, Mrs. Robert Schafer of Mahnomen, Minn.; Orin Nelson of Aurelia; 16 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren; her brothers and sisters, Mrs. Lyda Coffelt of Richmond, Calif.; Clarence Larson of Goldfield; Dr. LeRoy Larson of Fort Dodge, and Mrs. Gladise Knox of Goldfield. She
was preceded in death by her husband, who died in September of 1968; two sisters, Clara and Luella; four brothers, Ludvig, Lloyd, Joe and Harlan Larson.

Mrs. Nelson died on Saturday, May 21, 1983 at the Sunset Knoll Retirement Home in Aurelia, Iowa where she had lived for the past four years. She attained the age of 88 years, five months and 29 days.

Funeral services for Mrs. Tillie Nelson of rural Eagle Grove, were held on Tuesday, May 24, 1983 at 2 p.m. at the Lake Lutheran Church south of Renwick. Rev. Oliver Everson, church pastor officiated and the burial was in the Norway Lake Cemetery near Thor, Iowa. Visitation was held on Monday at the Kastler-Babcock Funeral Home in Eagle Grove.
