Clarion – Mrs. Ray M. (Jane) Duitscher, 73, of rural Clarion, died Sunday (Sept. 17, 1989) at the Clarion Community Memorial Hospital, of cancer.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. at the Eyler-Willim Funeral Home Chapel, Clarion with Mark Young of Clarion Church of Christ officiating. Burial will be in the Glenwood Cemetery, Goldfield. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

She was born Sept. 12, 1916 in Rowan, a daughter of J. F. and Bessie N. (Bingham) Howell. She graduated from the Clarion High School in 1934.

She married Guy Smith. They made their home in Clarion. He died in 1950. She later married Ray M. Duitscher in 1956 in Harrison, Ark. They lived on a farm northwest of Clarion. She was a member and past officer of the Auxiliary of Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and a member of the DELL Neighborhood Club.

Survivors include her husband, Ray, Clarion; two daughters, Jean Weiff [Weiss], Ft. Dodge, Donna Nelson, Churdan; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one step-sister of Council Bluffs and one brother, John Howell, Belmond.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter, Dorothy Armour in May 1989, one brother, one sister and one great-grandson.

Jane Duitscher, 73, RR2, Clarion, died of cancer on Sunday morning, September 17, 1989 at the Clarion Community Memorial Hospital. She had been a patient there for two days and ill for the past three months.

Services were held from the chapel of the Eyler-Willim Funeral Home on Wednesday morning at ten-thirty. Mark Young of the Church of Christ officiated and burial was in Glenwood Cemetery at Goldfield.

Kitty McCool was the organist and Kim Lee the vocalist. Casket bearers were Orville and Duane Steffenson, Harold Cross, Allen Boyington, Larry Olson and Kenneth Duitscher.

Jane was born on September 12, 1916 at Rowan and was the daughter of John F. and Bessie N. Bingham Howell. She was raised and educated at Clarion where she graduated from high school in 1934. On June 2, 1935 she was married to Guy A. Smith and they made their home in Clarion where he was a railroad engineer. He died in 1950. On December 31, 1956 she and Ray M. Duitscher were married at Harrison, Arkansas and they made their home on a farm northwest of Clarion.

Survivors include her husband, Ray; two daughters, Jean Weiss of Fort Dodge and Donna Nelson of Churdan; eight grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and a brother, John Howell of Belmond. She was preceded in death by her parents, first husband, a great grandson, Colt Weiss in 1988 and a daughter, Dorothy Armour on May 13, 1989.

She had been an officer and past president of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and a member of the DELL Neighborhood Club.
