Peter Smith funeral Monday
Funeral services for Peter Smith, Jr., retired Eagle Grove businessman and farmer, were conducted Monday at 10:00 a.m. in the Sacred Heart Church. The Rev. Norman White officiated and burial was in the Calvary Cemetery, Eagle Grove. Rosary was recited Sunday evening at the Kastler-Babcock-DeYoung Funeral Home. Mr. Smith died Saturday at the Rotary Ann Home in Eagle Grove at the age of 83 years, 8 months and 11 days.

He was born June 1, 1893 at Eagle Grove to Peter and Margaret [Metz] Kemp Smith. He attended Sacred Heart School and was a member of the Sacred Heart Church and a veteran of World War I. He was a life-time Eagle Grove resident and during the 1920's and 1930's was associated with his brothers, William and Charles, in the Smith Brothers Meat Market. Later he and his brother, William, farmed northeast of Eagle Grove and north of Goldfield for a number of years until his retirement.

He is survived by several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and one sister.
