Carl Gustav Baker
20 February 1910 --- 27 June 1974

Carl Gustav Baker was born, February 20, 1910 to Jake K. and Belle Johnson Baker in Eagle Grove. He was baptized into the triune faith on July 13, 1919 at Eagle Grove Evangelical Lutheran Church, Rev. T. J. Severtson officiating. On November 11, 1923 he renewed his baptismal covenant through the rite of confirmation. He passed away at his home in Eagle Grove on June 27 after reaching the age of 64 years, 4 months, and 7 days.

Mr. Baker attended the Eagle Grove schools. He was united in marriage to Mabel Holland in 1939 at Eagle Grove. They lived in Eagle Grove since their marriage. Carl was employed as a bridge crewman by the Chicago and North Western Railroad until his retirement in 1967.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, and one sister. Those who mourn his death are his wife, two stepsons: George Dewey, Houston, Tex.; Jack Conklin, Belvidere, Ill.; two stepdaughters: Mrs. Dean Nichols, Eagle Grove; Mrs. Jack Palmer, Willow Springs, Mo.; 12 grandchildren; two great grandchildren; one brother, Jacob, Eagle Grove; three sisters: Mrs. Hannah Adams, Seattle, Wash.; Mrs. Margaret Darland, Eagle Grove; Mrs. Mabel Johnson, Eagle Grove.

Funeral services were held at Eagle Grove Evangelical Lutheran Church on June 29 at 2:00 p.m., Rev. H. W. Schiller officiating. Interment in Rose Hill Cemetery, Eagle Grove.
