Lester Osmund Olson
22 April 1886 --- 1 August 1970

Lester Osman Olson was born April 22, 1886 in Leland, Ill. to David and Maren Frovik Olson. He was baptized into the triune faith shortly after birth. He renewed his baptismal covenant through the rite of confirmation at Eagle Grove Evangelical Lutheran Church on January 12, 1906. He died at home on August 1, 1970 after reaching the age of 84 years, 3 months, and 9 days.

At the age of 14, Lester together with his family moved to Eagle Grove, ½ mile south of the present location. He attended school in the Eagle Grove vicinity. Mr. Olson was engaged in farming all of his life. On March 17, 1909 he was married to Severina Helena Roseland at Eagle Grove. They moved to their present location in 1916.

For many, many years he was a faithful member of Evangelical Lutheran Church and he served on the building committee. He also was township clerk and he served on the Fair Board, ASC, and other committees.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers: George and Arthur; three sisters, Serena, Gladys, and Anna and two grandchildren, Ansgar David Olson and Michael John Kist. Those who mourn his departure are his wife, Severina, two sons: Raymond of Thousand Oaks, Calif.; Norris of Eagle Grove; two daughters: Helen, Mrs. J. M. Budd of Osage; and Ruth, Mrs. John K. Kist of Downers Grove, Ill.; one sister, Mrs. Della Sebert of San Francisco, Calif.; 12 grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held August 4 at 2:00 p.m. in the Eagle Grove Evangelical Lutheran Church, Rev. H. W. Schiller. Interment in Rose Hill Cemetery.
