Rowan Ralph Schultz
26 March 1936 --- 15 December 1989

Rowan Schultz was born in 1936 at Des Moines. He was raised and educated in Humboldt, graduating
from Humboldt High School in 1954. He attended Iowa Central Community College in Fort Dodge, and Central College in Pella. He received his bachelor of arts degree from the University of Wyoming in Laramie, where he also earned a master's degree in education. He taught history and coached at Wyoming, Iowa. In 1959, he married Helma Welslef at Wyoming. They moved to Eagle Grove in 1961, where he taught at Eagle Grove High School. He has been an instructor at Iowa Central Community College, Fort Dodge, for a number of years, teaching sociology. He had been a teacher for more than 30 years. He was a member of the National Education Association, Iowa State Education Association, the National Rifle Association and American Radio Relay League.

Rowan Schultz, 53, of Eagle Grove, died Tuesday evening, December 5, 1989, at Trinity Regional Hospital after an extended illness. Survivors include his wife, Helma; daughters, Susan, Grinnell; and Patricia Abels, Eagle Grove;, three grandchildren; his father, Ivan, Humboldt; brother, Charles, Kent, Wash.; and sisters, Alberta Currie, Melrose, and Margaret Wassom, Jacksonville, Ark.

Graveside services were held Friday, December 8, at 1 p.m. at Memorial Park Cemetery, Fort Dodge, with a memorial service at 2 p.m. at the United Methodist Church, Eagle Grove. The Rev. Scott C. Hall officiated.
