Celia Jergenson Peterson
29 December 1889 --- 22 May 1968

Mrs. Celia Peterson was born December 29, 1889 at Marseilles, Ill., to Ole and Christine Johnson Jergensen. She was baptized as an infant in Marsailles and on November 22, 1903 was confirmed at the Holmes Lutheran Church by Rev. O. R. Sletten. She died at the Lutheran Hospital, Fort Dodge, on May 22, 1968 after reaching the age of 78 years, 4 months, and 23 days.

At the age of 11, Mrs. Peterson came with her family to Holmes, and she attended schools at Holmes and Clarion. She worked at the Occidental Hotel in Eagle Grove and on June 14, 1916 was married to Hans Enok Peterson at Eagle Grove. Following their marriage, they lived at Kanawha for a short time and then farmed in the Eagle Grove and Clarion vicinity until their retirement in 1951.

Preceding her in death were her parents, 2 brothers George and Ode Jergensen, and 3 sisters, Gertie Johnson, Clara Bruhl, and Lendie Bruhl. Those who mourn her departure are her husband, Hans; 3 sons: Ernest of Fort Dodge; Harold of San Diego, Calif.; John of Inglewood, Calif.; a daughter, Margaret, Mrs. Orville Anderson of St. Peter, Minn.; 10 grandchildren; 3 brothers, Chris Jergensen, Eagle Grove, Selmer Jergensen, Goldfield, Arthur Jergensen, Kanawha; 3 sisters, Mrs. F. B. Mathias, Waterloo, Mrs. William Eaton, Ft. Dodge, Miss Edna Jergensen of Eagle Grove.

Funeral services were held Saturday at 2:00 at Eagle Grove Evangelical Lutheran Church, Rev, H. W. Schiller officiating with interment in Rose Hill Cemetery.
