MARY LOU HIRSCH
Mary Lou Howell was born in Fort Dodge, Iowa, on August 24, 1958. She was adopted by Mr. and Mrs.
Donald Howell and in 1962 moved with her family to Corona, Calif. She attended school in Corona and graduated from La Sierra Academy in 1976. In 1979, she married John Andersen and moved to Oklahoma City, Okla. In 1982, she and her sons returned to Corona. She completed the nursing program at Riverside City College and worked in the area as a labor and delivery nurse. In 1986, she moved to Kansas City, Kan., to attend the University of Kansas.

She received her nursing degree. In 1995, she attended the University of Minnesota to complete the midwife program. She returned to Kansas City and worked as a midwife. In 1996, she married Karl Hirsch.

Mary Lou "Missy" Hirsch died Saturday, March 3, 2001, at her home in Overland Park, Kansas, at the age of 42. She is survived by her husband, Karl Hirsch, Kansas City, Mo.; three sons, Rick Andersen, Overland Park, Donny Andersen. Oklahoma City, and Kristjan Hirsch, Kansas City, Mo.; parents, Donald And Phyllis Howell, Corona, Calif.; two brothers, Dr. Robin Howell, and wife, Beth, Halifax, Nova Scotia, and Ricky Howell, Rubid, Calif.; and nieces, Nisa and Kirstin Howell of Nova Scotia. She also leaves her birth family: parents, Chester and June Hunt, Eagle Grove, Iowa; one sister, Pam Manning, and husband, Ron, West Virginia; and one brother, Allen Hunt, Clarion, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her grandmother, Gladys Hunt, Eagle Grove.
