The Goldfield Chronicle

A heart attack proved fatal to Peter A. Rasmussen, 72, Wednesday morning about 10 at his farm home near Goldfield.

Funeral services have been set tentatively for Saturday, April 25 at 1:30 at the home and at 2:30 p.m. at the Baptist church in Goldfield. Rev. C. G. Knight pastor of the Presbyterian church will officiate and burial will be in the Goldfield cemetery.

Mr. Rasmussen was born on August 23, 1880 in Humboldt County. He has lived in the Humboldt and Goldfield territories all of his life.

He is survived by three sons, Ivan, Lyle and Harold. Also, three sisters, Mrs. Annie Amerson, Mrs. Caroline Bartzen and Mrs. Minnie Severson. He was preceded in death by his wife in October 1937. His son Harold and his wife have kept the home for him on the home farm.

The Goldfield Chronicle

Peter A. son of John and Fredericka Rasmussen was born on August 12, 1880 at Lake Township, Humboldt County, Iowa. He passed away very suddenly on April 22, 1953 at his home near Goldfield, having reached the age of 72 years, 8 months and 10 days.

He attended Humboldt County rural schools and grew to manhood on his father's farm near Goldfield. On March 16, 1904 he was united in marriage to Minnie Thompson and to this union six children were born, all of whom survive. He was united with the United Presbyterian Church of Goldfield in April of 1915. He was an active, member of the Fountain City Masonic Lodge.

Their entire married life was spent in Humboldt County with the exception of four years in Wright County. Mr, Rasmussen has lived at his present home for the past forty years.

His life was devoted to farming and the last thirty years he spent developing registered shorthorn cattle.

He was preceded m death by his parents, his wife, Minnie and one brother, Lewis H. Rasmussen. He leaves to mourn his passing six children: Fern, Mrs. Hiram Wig of Goldfield, Hazel, Mrs. Fred Gugisburg of Renwick; Mable, Mrs. Herman Hanson of Livermore; Lyle Rasmussen of Goldfield; Ivan Rasmussen of Renwick, and Harold Rasmussen of Goldfield. Nine Grandchildren, also survive. Three sisters: Mrs. Minnie Severson of Goldfield; Mrs. Annie Amerson of Hardy and Mrs. Caroline Bartzen of Goldfield; Three brothers: Fred Rasmussen of Wesley, Anton Rasmussen of Eagle Grove and Nels P. Rasmussen of West Bend. Many other relatives and a host of friends.

Funeral Services were held Saturday, April 25, 1953 at the Baptist Church Goldfield, Iowa with Rev. Cassius McKnight, Pastor of the United Presbyterian Church of Goldfield, officiating. Interment was held on the family lot in Glenwood cemetery, Goldfield.
