William John Braden (1880-1960)

W. J. Braden, 79, died Sunday at his home in Goldfield, following a long illness. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at the Braden home in charge of Rev. Thomas M. Walton, and burial was in Glenwood cemetery. Casket bearers were Braden Stoakes, Dr. F. H. Kelly, Lloyd Skafte, Donald Braden, Thomas Stark and John Dinnie.

Mr. Braden a retired hardware merchant, was the son of Mr. and Mrs. James Braden, early day Goldfield and Wright county settlers. He was born Nov. 30, 1880 in Goldfield and had resided here ever since except for 8 years in Des Moines.

He married Allie Yarnell of Clarion in September, 1901. She survives as do three daughters and two sons, Mrs. L. L. Cobb of Los Angeles, Calif., Mrs. O. D. Atherton of Green Bay, Wisconsin, Mrs. W. G. Mengelberg of Santa Barbara, Calif., B. W. Braden of Waterloo and James Braden of Tucson, Ariz. There are also six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Mr. Braden was preceded in death by three sisters, two of whom died many years ago and Mrs. Ida Stoakes of Goldfield, who died about five years ago.
