Leroy D. Jones was born June 17, 1940, to Francis and Clarabelle Kennedy Jones at Goldfield, Iowa. He attended Goldfield Schools and graduated in 1958. On July 15,1996, he was united in marriage to Jean Pletcher at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. He lived in the Goldfield area most of his life where he farmed. He retired from farming in the fall of 1995. On April 1,1996, he received a lung transplant and became a strong supporter of organ donation. He moved to Eagle Grove in May of 1997.

Leroy D. Jones died Friday, October 31, 1997, at Fairview University Medical Center in Minneapolis, Minn., at the age of 57.

Survivors include his wife, Jean, Eagle Grove; two sons, Matt Hrabak, Rochester, Minn., and Mike Hrabak, Gilbert, Iowa; one daughter, Peg Harper and husband, Mike, Gilbert; father, Francis Jones, and wife, Dorothy, Eagle Grove; one sister, Wanda Hassman and husband, Ed, Huntsville, Texas; four nieces and one nephew; three grand nieces and six grand nephews.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Clarabelle, on July 4, 1974 [1973].

Funeral services were held Tuesday, November 4, 1997, at 10 a.m. at the Willim Funeral Home in Eagle Grove with the Reverend Ellen G. Brantley officiating. Burial was held in the Glenwood Cemetery at Goldfield.

Willim Funeral Home of Eagle Grove was in charge of arrangements.
