Mable Bertina Howe
7 October 1900 ---- 7 October 1917Mabel Bertina Howe died at her home on North Montgomery Street Sunday October 7th, after an illness lasting since last December. At that time she was stricken with tuberculosis and has been bed-ridden practically ever since. She was born in Eagle Grove, October 7th, 1900 and it is an interesting coincidence that she frequently expressed the wish that the end might come on her birthday. Her friend, Miss Tillie Wieland, made her a birthday cake on which were placed seventeen candles and the afflicted girl lived to enjoy the event to the utmost and then quietly passed on. She was thoroughly enthusiastic over her school work.
The funeral services were held in the East Side Lutheran church, Tuesday afternoon and the burial by the side of her father in Rose Hill cemetery.
The surviving relatives are her mother, two sisters, Minnie and Helma, and two brothers, Theodore and Joseph.
The pall bearers were Augustus Swanson, Conrad Knutson, Madel Knutson, Magnus Gunderson, Helmer Bjelland, Arthur Westre.
The family has the sympathy of their many friends in their great affliction.
