Grocer Gabrielson dies
BELMOND -- Ed L. Gabrielson, a co-founder of We '3' Markets, died Tuesday (March 20, 1984) in the Hampton hospital. Mr. Gabrielson, 55, had operated P&G Grocery Store in Belmond. In 1961, he and two partners, brother Wilmer and Wes Boiler, all of Belmond, started the We '3' Markets. There now are markets in Belmond, Garner and Hampton.

Funeral services for Mr. Gabrielson of Belmond will be 10:30 a.m. Friday in the United Methodist Church, Belmond. The Rev. Paul Akin will officiate and burial will be in Belmond Cemetery. Visitation is after 9 this morning at Tenold Funeral Home, Belmond.

Mr. Gabrielson was born Feb. 28, 1929, in Des Moines, to Talford and Agnes Gabrielson. He graduated from Belmond High School in 1947 and married Doris Christie on Jan. 28, 1951. He served in the Army in the Korean conflict from 1951 to 1953 and after his discharge, opened the P&G Grocery in Belmond. He was a member of the United Methodist Church, a past member of the Belmond Jaycees, a member of the Belmond Lions Club, Chamber of Commerce and Fire Department. He also was a past member of the School Board.
Survivors include his wife, Doris, and mother, Agnes, both of Belmond; four sons, Marc and Tad, both of Belmond; Kim of Hampton, and Jay of Hampton, Va. Also, one daughter, Mrs. David (Michelle) Fugelman, Fort Dodge; five grandchildren; two brothers, Wilmer of Belmond, and Kent of Cedar Falls, and a sister, Mrs. Kermit (Helen) Kew, Clear Lake.
