Harold Lloyd Olmstead (1926-1984)

Harold Lloyd Olmstead, the son of Fred and Emma Duden Olmstead, was born on Aug. 18, 1926 at Webster City, Iowa. He grew up and attended school in Webster City. For several years, he was employed in the trucking business in Webster City. In 1950, he entered the U.S. Army. On Dec. 25, 1950, he was united in marriage with Dolores Malaise at Leesville, La. After receiving his discharge from the Army in 1952, the family moved to Eagle Grove and he has been employed at the Boone Valley Co-op Processing Plant for the past 30 years.

He died at his home in Eagle Grove on Wednesday evening, May 23, 1984 of a sudden illness at the age of 57 years, nine months and five days.

He is survived by his wife, Dolores Olmstead of Eagle Grove; a daughter, Brenda Olmstead of Eagle Grove; a son, Michael Olmstead of Cumberland, Md.; two grandchildren, Michael and
Jennifer Olmstead; a brother, Roy Olmstead of Webster City; two sisters, Delores, Mrs. Ray VanOhlen of Russellville, Ark. and Nellie, Mrs. Judell Roe of Webster City. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Lena Raner; and four brothers, Harvey, Raymond, Howard and Lyle.

Funeral services for Harold L. Olmstead, 57, of Eagle Grove, were held on Saturday, May 26, 1984 at 1:30 p.m. at the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Eagle Grove with the Rev. Paul Schaedig, church pastor, officiating with burial in the Rose Hill Cemetery, Eagle Grove. Visitation was held at the Kastler Babcock Funeral Home on Friday.
