August 4, 1933 --- February 22, 1995

Richard Eugene Mrazek was born on August 4, 1933 the son of Thomas and Bernice Duitscher Mrazek at Kanawha, Iowa. He received his education in the Boone Valley School system in Renwick, Iowa. He entered the United States Navy on November 17, 1955 at Great Lakes, Ill. and was honorably discharged on November 16, 1961 at the Naval Reserve Station, San Diego, Calif. Upon returning to Iowa, he went to work for the Holmes Elevator. He began trucking for Don Sorensen of Goldfield before being hired by Umthun Trucking Company in Eagle Grove, Iowa on May 24, 1962.

He was united in marriage to Diane McCurry on June 30, 1962 at her parents' home in Renwick. He was employed at Umthun Trucking Company at the time of his accident on February 13, 1995. He died February 22, 1995 at St. Mary's Hospital, Rochester, Minn. Richard had attained the age of 61 years, six months, and 18 days.

Survivors include his wife, Diane Mrazek of Eagle Grove; sons: Tony and his wife Diane of Grimes, Iowa, and Kory of Eagle Grove; daughters: Kelly Loux and her husband Terry of Eagle Grove and Tracy Steele and her husband Kenny of Goldfield. Also surviving are nine grandchildren; his mother, Bernice Mrazek of Clarion; one brother, Donald Mrazek and his wife Margaret of Goldfield; and a sister, Sharon Demesko and her husband Ray of Rosemount, Minn. He was preceded in death by his father.

Funeral services for Richard Eugene Mrazek were held on Saturday, Feb. 25, 1995 at the United Methodist Church in Eagle Grove, Iowa. The Reverend Omar Pettersen officiated the 2 p.m. services and burial was in Glenwood Cemetery, Goldfield. Military rites at graveside were conducted by the Eagle Grove V.F.W. Post 642 and the Eagle Grove American Legion Post 304.
