Lawrence Kenneth Ralph Helmke, 69, of rural Goldfield died Wednesday, June 2, at Mary Greeley Hospital in Ames.

Helmke was born on April 14, 1913 and attended school in Swea City. Following his graduation in 1931, he moved to Renwick where he was engaged in farming. He never married. Helmke was a member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Renwick.

Funeral services were held Friday, June 4, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Renwick. Rev. Oliver Everson officiated. Burial was in the Elmwood Cemetery at Renwick.

Helmke was preceded in death by his parents, August and Ida (Christensen) Helmke. He is survived by step-mother, Mrs. Mary Helmke of Santa Ana, Calif.; brothers Carroll of Renwick and Junior of Swea City; a sister, Mrs. Marjorie Baima of San Diego, Calif.

Blake Funeral Home, Renwick, was in charge of the services.
