JEANETTE FRANCES SMITH
Jeanette Frances Budding was born April 25, 1922, the daughter of Joe and Anna Marie VanEnglandburg Budding, at Sully. She attended Searsboro High School, and graduated in 1939. From there she went to college at Cedar Falls and received her teaching degree. Upon completion of her schooling, Frances taught country school in the Lynnville Sully area for several years.

On November 23, 1945, J. Frances Budding was united in marriage to Victor Smith of Goldfield at Oskaloosa. The couple farmed in the Lynnville area until 1954, when they moved to Goldfield. Victor died in 1975. Frances moved to Humboldt where she was employed as a nurses aide at the North Care Center for 12 years.

She was a member of the United Presbyterian Church in Goldfield, including the Morning Circle, Presbyterian Women's Association, Sunday School teacher, and the Youth Club for many years. Frances was very active with the Humboldt County 4-H Club as a leader.

Jeanette Frances Smith died January 3, 1990 at the Humboldt County Memorial Hospital, Humboldt, at the age of 67 years, eight months, and eight days. She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Jennie Kucera and Nellie Klein; two nephews and one niece. She is survived by two brothers, Joe Budding, Lynnville; John, Wilton; four sisters, Mrs. John (Henrietta) Wouda, Sully; Mrs. Paul (Bertha) Ludwick, and Mrs. Louis (Eva) Anders, both of Oskaloosa, and Mrs. Floyd (Nola) Smith, Goldfield.

Funeral services were held at the United Presbyterian Church in Goldfield on January 6, at 10:30 a.m. with the Rev. Victor V. Victoria officiating. Burial was in Glenwood Cemetery, Goldfield. Kastler-Babcock Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
