Mrs. Metz Rasmussen, resident of this community for thirty-five years, died at her home Wednesday evening following a short illness. She is survived by her husband, and four children, Gladys E. Douglas of Aberdeen, S. D., Max A. Rasmussen of Humboldt, Mrs. Helen K. Folkedahl and Marshall Rasmussen. Funeral services were held at the Wilson Funeral Home in Eagle Grove Friday afternoon. Burial was in the Glenwood cemetery.

Obituary

Marie Madison [Madsen] was born in Langeland, Denmark, on July 25, 1873, and died at her home near Goldfield June 19, 1940, being 67 years of age. During her girlhood in Denmark, she was confirmed in the Lutheran church. She came to America in May, 1894. On March 10, 1898, she was united in marriage to Metz H. Rasmussen at Humboldt, Iowa. The couple settled on a farm near Hardy, where they lived until moving to their present home in 1907.

To this marriage were born three girls and two boys. One infant daughter preceded her in death. Those who remain to mourn her death are her husband and four children: Mrs. Helen K. Folkedahl of Goldfield, Max A. Rasmussen of Humboldt, Gladys E. Douglas of Aberdeen, S. D., and Marshall Rasmussen of Goldfield. There are also six grandchildren, Helen Marie and Alice Folkedahl, Loren and Marilyn Douglas, and Virginia and Geneva Rasmussen. She is also survived by 5 brothers and 5 sisters, and a number of nieces and nephews. All these and many old friends and long acquaintances will share the sorrow over her loss.
