Jeanette Leona “June” McCarty Siemens
29 December 1896 ---- 5 January 1983

Mrs. Jeanette Leona (June) Siemens, the daughter of Wesley and Minnie Sougstad McCarty, was born on Dec. 29, 1896 at Kanawha, Iowa. She grew up and attended the Kanawha area schools. During her later years of high school, she made her home with a great-aunt at Adel, Iowa and graduated from the Adel High School. She taught country school in Wright and Hancock counties in the Kanawha area for several years.

She was united in marriage with Bert L. Siemens on April 24, 1917 at Clarion. They made their home on a farm north of Goldfield. To this union were born several children. The family lived on the same farm for forty years. In 1959, Mr. Siemens died and then June moved to Eagle Grove, where she lived a few years. For the past 10 years, she had made her home with her daughter, Phyllis and her family in Fort Dodge. She had been a patient at Trinity Regional Hospital, the Tomkins Health Center and Friendship haven for the past few weeks. She died at the Tomkins Health Center in Fort Dodge early Wednesday morning, Jan. 5, 1983, at the age of 86 years and seven days. She was a long-time member of the Park Church of Christ in Goldfield and was a member of the Boone Township Women's Club for many, many years.

She is survived by two daughters, Phyllis, Mrs. Don Silver of Fort Dodge; Maybelle, Mrs. Carl Hebner of Goldfield; four sons, Paul of Goldfield; Frank of Renwick, John of Spanaway, Wash.; Roger of Whitehall, Mt.; 20 grandchildren; 16 greatgrandchildren; five sisters, Mrs. Gladys Freerksen of Kanawha; Mrs. Gretchen Malherek of Chicago; Mrs. Esther Dawson of Estherville; Naomi, Mrs. Harold Zeller of Rochester, Minn.; Joy, Mrs. Thomas Leonard of Chicago; and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband; a son, Albert, who died in 1937; a sister, Mrs. Margaret Reinwald; a brother, Wesley McCarty and a great-grandson, Ryan Roberts.

Funeral services for Mrs. June Siemens, were held on Saturday, Jan. 8, 1983, at 1:30 p.m. at the Park Church of Christ in Goldfield. David Nissen, church pastor officiated and burial was in the family lot at the Glenwood Cemetery, Goldfield. Visitation was held at the Kastler-Babcock Funeral Home in Eagle Grove on Friday.
