Robert "Bob" Polzin, age 67, of Dows, Iowa, passed away on Monday, May 10, 2021 at MercyOne in Mason City, Iowa.

Robert Steven Polzin was born June 2, 1953, at the Ellsworth Hospital in Iowa Falls, IA. He was one of three boys born to Melvin Polzin and Beverly (Wilkie) Polzin Chaplin.

He grew up in Hubbard, IA where he attended the Hubbard Community Schools, graduating high school with the Class of 1972.

After high school Bob drove truck for a number of years. During that time, he was united in marriage to Sue Lynn Cronk on December 31, 1977 in Hubbard, Iowa. Two sons were born to this union, Anthony “Tony” and Aaron. He then opened Bob’s Bike Shop in Hubbard which operated for a few years. He began working for area farmers and eventually went to work for DeCoster Farms.

Bob died at MercyOne North Medical Center in Mason City, IA on Monday, May 10, 2021.

He was preceded in death by his wife Sue on March 20, 2020, son Aaron in November 2019, his parents, his step-father Berle Chaplin, brothers James Polzin, Larry Polzin and Bryan Chaplin and his nephew Shane Chaplin.

Bob is survived by his son Tony of Dows, IA and Tony’s wife Dana of Clarence, Missouri; four grandchildren Lynzey Sturgeon of Dows, IA, Dylen sturgeon of Denver, Colorado, Lane Webb of Soloman, KS, and Sydney Webb of Springfield, MO; and a brother Kevin Chaplin and his wife Jackie of Hubbard; along with many other relatives and friends.

Services will be held Thursday, May 13 at 11 am at Boeke Funeral Home in Hubbard, with burial in the Hubbard Cemetery.
