27 March 1894 ---- March 29, 1995

William Arnold Engh, 101, passed away Wednesday, March 29, 1995 at the Kanawha Community Home.

William, the son of Knute and Emma (Larson) Engh, was born March 27, 1894, near Morris, Illinois. In January 1904 he moved with his family to Wright County, Boone Township, near Renwick, Iowa and attended a rural school. He attended a business college in Humboldt, Iowa. William was confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran Church and was a member of the Kanawha Lutheran Church.

On February 7, 1917, was united in marriage to Grace Michelson at the Eagle Grove Lutheran parsonage by Dr. H.C. Holm.

He farmed near Renwick and moved to a farm near Kanawha in 1927. He served on the Church Council and Sunday School teacher, was a director of the Kanawha Coop Oil, Farmers Coop Elevator and and the Experiment Farm.

He retired from farming in 1962. Grace died February 1971. William married Nell McKnoght in March 1972. He moved to Newton, Illinois. Nell passed away in August of 1981. William entered the Nursing Home in Kanawha in July of 1983.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two wives, sisters, Anna Gaston and Emma Olson; brothers, John, Emery, Olin and his infant twin sister, Olive, who died in infancy; one son-in-law, Frank Engstrom and two grandchildren.

Survivors include sons, Kermit and his wife, Jessie of Grand Junction, Colorado, Willis and his wife, Arlene of Kanawha, Iowa, and daughter, Shirley Engstrom of Goldfield, Iowa; a sister, Ruth RoJohn of Fairport, New York; nine grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren.
