Milford Clinton Braden
5 October 1879 ---- 3 November 1900

Saturday, Nov. 3rd, at 5:30 p.m., the spirit of Milford Clinton Braden took its eternal light from its fever-racked and emaciated tenement. A happy release for him, a voiceless sorrow for parents, brother, sisters, and friends. A son promising, amiable, and dutiful. A brother, kind, affectionate. A friend, genial, true.

"None knew him but to love him,
None named him but to praise."

Milford was born in this county Oct. 5th, 1879, the first born of Mr. and Mrs. M. D. Braden.

He graduated from our city schools last June and in September entered the college at Ames, where he was stricken with typhoid fever and returned to his home Oct. 15th.

Everything that skill, science, and affection could suggest was done for him, but death conquered all and Sunday the tired body was laid to rest in Rose Hill cemetery, followed by one of the largest processions in the history of the city.

The funeral services were held at the home at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Rev. G. W. Southwell preaching impressively from the text "'Is the Young Man Safe?"

Milford was a member of the Methodist church and the pallbearers were chosen from his Sunday School class — Henry Johnson, Sam Middleton, Guy Pillsbury, Henry Sauer, Sam Allen, Guy Hanchen. The choir was composed of L. P. Everz, Miss Schonhood, Mrs. Jno. Paine and Porter Donly.

A large concourse of sympathizing friends and neighbors gathered at the home for the sad services; over one hundred teams were counted.

Milford leaves father, mother, brother, and two sisters to mourn his untimely death.

A sister was buried in Troy township about ten years ago, whose remains will be removed to Rose Hill cemetery and placed by his side.

The entire community feels the sadness of the going out of this young, promising life, and tenders its warmest sympathy to the bereaved family.
