Sarah Marentine Hansen Jorgensen
4 August 1872 --- 17 December 1952

Sarah Marentine Hansen Jorgensen, daughter of Frederick and Jorgine Hansen, was born on August 4, 1872 at Langeland, Denmark. She passed away after a lingering illness on December 17, 1952 having reached the age of 80 years, 4 months, and 13 days.

She was baptized as an infant in the Lutheran faith and later confirmed at the early age of 14. She received her early schooling in Denmark. In 1891 she came to America and settled near Goldfield, Iowa.

On June 5, 1892 at Goldfield, Iowa she was united in marriage to Peter Jorgensen, and to this union six children were born, four of whom survive. They made their home in Goldfield, later moving to a farm east of Goldfield, and in 1934 they moved to a farm south of Eagle Grove, Iowa. After about six years they retired to their present home on 407 North Lincoln Avenue, Eagle Grove, Iowa.

She was a member of the Samuel Lutheran church.

She was preceded in death by one daughter, Esther Mildred, who passed away in infancy. Also, one son, Harry Minar who passed away in 1935. Her brother, Hans Clausen also preceded her in death.

She leaves to mourn her passing, her husband, Peter Jorgensen, and four sons, Elmer of Clarion, Iowa, Alfred of Milwaukee, Wis., Roy and Howard of Eagle Grove, Iowa. Fourteen grandchildren, three great grandchildren, other relatives, and a host of friends.

Mrs. Jorgensen was a wonderful wife and mother, and she will be greatly missed by her family and all who knew her.

Funeral services were held Friday, December 19, 1952 at the Samuel Lutheran Church, Eagle Grove, Iowa with Rev. B. F. Molstre officiating. Interment was held on the family lot in Rose Hill cemetery, Eagle Grove.
