Peter Nelsen Jorgensen
24 August 1871 ---- 25 February 1955Peter Jorgensen, son of Nels and Lois Jorgensen, was born August 24, 1871 at Langeland, Denmark. He had suffered from a lingering illness and passed away February 25, 1955, having reached the age of 83 years, 6 months, and l day.
As an infant he was baptized and later confirmed in the Lutheran faith at the age of 14. He received his education in Denmark. In 1891 he came to America and settled near Goldfield, Iowa.
On June 5, 1892 he was united in marriage to Saran Marentine Hansen at Goldfield, Iowa. Their home was blessed with the birth of six children. They made their home in Goldfield, Iowa and later on a farm east of Goldfield. In 1934 they moved to a farm south of Eagle Grove. After about six years they retired and established their home in Eagle Grove.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Esther Mildred, who passed away in infancy, a son Harry Einar who passed away in 1935, and his wife who passed away December 17, 1952.
He is survived by four sons: Elmer of Clarion; Alfred of Milwaukee, Wis.; Royce of Remsen; and Howard of Eagle Grove; fourteen grandchildren, five great grandchildren, and other relatives, and a host of friends.
Funeral services were held at Wilson-Sacquety Funeral Chapel Monday, Feb. 28 at 1:30 p.m. and from Samuel Evangelical Lutheran church at 2:00 p.m. Pastor B. F. Molstre officiated. Mrs. Carl Sunner and Miss Ann Falk sang at the services at church. Interment was made at Rose Hill cemetery.
