Stanley Howey Chenault
30 August 1895 ---- 20 April 1955

Stanley Howey Chenault was born on August 30, 1895, at Glendale, Kentucky to Luther and Sally Chenault. His early years were spent on the farm. He then went to Business College at Bowling Green, Kentucky. In 1914 he came to Eagle Grove and was employed by Chicago & Northwestern Railroad as a telegrapher, which position he held for 41 years up to the time of his passing.

He was working at Jewell, Iowa when he married Mildred Bass of Dayton, Iowa on July 26, 1921. The family moved from Alton, Iowa to Eagle Grove in the fall of 1937.

He is survived by his wife, 2 sons, Paul of Fort Bragg, North Carolina, and Miles of Mason City, Iowa, a daughter-in-law, Phyllis, and 3 grandsons, Steven, Larry, and Roland all of Mason City, Iowa. He is also survived by one sister, Mrs. Nellie Stevens and 3 brothers, James, Clyde, and Benjamin.

He was a member of the Methodist church, the Order of Railroad Telegraphers, and Veterans Association and a member and past commander of the American Legion.

Funeral services were held Friday April 22nd in the Methodist church with Rev. Roy Cox officiating. Interment was in Rose Hill Cemetery. Pall bearers were Otto L. Larson, Emil Kuccera, Thos. Benedict, John Dinnie, Hugh Andrews, and Leonard Van Deelen.

Present from out of town attending the funeral of Mr. Chenault were Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Henrich, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Van Zyl, and Mrs. Esther Kooreman of Alton; Mr. and Mrs. Leff Holmstrom, Mr. and Mrs. Donald Bass of Dayton; Mr. and Mrs. DeVere Kahl, Arthur Kalseim; Mr. and Mrs. Milton Hendrickson of Jewell; Mr. and Mrs. Marion Hendrickson of Stanhope; Mrs. R. A. Young of Clarion; Mr. and Mrs. Julius Jacobson and Robert Jacobson of Thor; Elmer Terril, E. C. Jones, W. H. Clarke, P. J. Huges, D. J. Woodworth, and Terril W. Manzel all of Mason City; and Chan E. Dakin of Clear Lake.
