William H. Laughlin Jr.
20 May 1907 ---- 2 March 1979

Funeral services for William H. Laughlin, Jr., 71 of Dows, were held at the Willim Funeral Home in Dows on Sunday, March 4, 1979. The Rev. Judith Cook officiated and burial was in the Fairview Cemetery at Dows.

Mr. Laughlin died Friday morning, March 2, 1979 at the University Hospital in Iowa City.

He was born May 20, 1907 in Chicago, Illinois, the son of William and Ruby Lawson Laughlin, Sr. At the age of two, he moved to Dows with his family and was educated in Dows and graduated from Dows High School in 1925. He owned and operated a variety store for many years and in 1947 opened up a furniture store in Dows and retired in 1972.

He was a member of the Presbyterian Church in Dows, the Commercial Club, Dows Golf Course and a 38-year member of the Dows Fire Department.

He is survived by his wife, Bertha Ann; one son, William of Burlington, Iowa; one granddaughter and two sisters: Mrs. Carl (Ardath) Hudnall of Chillicothe, Missouri and Mrs. Sybil Denger of Lancaster, California. He was preceded in death by his parents.

The Willim Funeral Home in Dows had charge of the arrangements.
