Mollie Alma Thompson Christopher
1 November 1894 ---- 13 January 1929

Alma Mollie Thompson was born Nov. 1, 1894 in Troy township, Wright county, Iowa, about five miles southwest of Eagle Grove. The names of her parents were Thomas and Anna Thompson. She was brought up in a Christian home and was confirmed by Rev. G. A. Sevde. She stayed in the parental home until 1912, when she was united in marriage to Edward G. Christopher. She has lived on a farm about five miles west of town ever since. Mrs. Christopher was the mother of seven children of which number five are living and two died in infancy.

Our friend was in very good health until about a year ago, when she became severely ill, but after spending about nine days at a local hospital, she recovered and was happy to be home and about her duties again. She became apparently well and none of us thought that the end should be so surprisingly near until Jan. 13, 1929, on Sunday morning about 8:30 o’clock, when she suddenly was stricken with a hemorrhage and died instantly. Her age at the time of her death was 35 years, two months, and 13 days.

She leaves to mourn the great loss of a very devoted wife and loving and tender mother, her husband, Edward Christopher, and the following children: Gordon, Etta May, Alvina, Robert, and James, all of minor age and home with the father. Mrs. Christopher is also survived by two brothers and one sister, namely Nels Thompson of Eagle Grove and Arthur Thompson of Vincent, Iowa, and Martha Amonson of Eagle Grove, besides many other relatives and a host of friends who were attached to the dear departed one. Her parents, four brothers, and the two infant children preceded her in entering eternity.

Mrs. Christopher was a very devoted member of Norway Lutheran church, always present at the services and interested in the welfare of her church. When she was taken sick about a year ago, she was intensely in earnest about her soul’s welfare and the welfare of her dear ones and prayed with great fervor that God would give her grace to lead a Christian life, so she also could lead her dear ones in the way of life. God grant that she was ready at the last sudden summons to enter the place that Jesus has prepared for all His true disciples. She certainly will be greatly missed here among us.

She was buried from the West Side Lutheran church, Wednesday Jan. 16. He pastor, Rev. R. Ljostveit, spoke and conducted the funeral.

May our blessed Heavenly Father in His great love and mercy, strengthen and comfort our bereaved friend, Mr. Edward Christopher, with his motherless children according to His blessed promises.
