Robert Sherman Crane
14 May 1891 ---- 14 March 1974

Robert Sherman Crane, 82, a retired Dows area farmer, died on Thursday, March 14, 1974 at the North Grand Care Center in Ames where he had lived the past three years. Funeral services were held Saturday at 2 o'clock p.m. from the United Methodist Church in Dows and the Rev. M. C. Sutherland officiated. Burial was in the Fairview Cemetery and the Willim Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Born on May 14, 1891 at Loogootee, Indiana he was the son of William T. and Mary Walton Crane and lived there until he was sixteen. He then came to Eagle Grove where he was married to Jennie Beukelman on November 17, 1915. After their marriage they farmed at several places in Wright County and came to Dows in 1940 where he purchased a farm west of town. He retired in 1956.

He is survived by one son and four daughters: Richard Crane of Colorado; Mrs. Mary Pierce and Mrs. William (Alice) Havlik, both of Fort Dodge; Mrs. Curtis (Doris) Anderson of Ames and Mrs. Arthur (Barbara) Philbrook of Webster City. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren, one great-grandchild and one sister, Mrs. Maude Crane of Loogootee, Indiana. Preceding him in death were his parents, his wife in 1970, one son, three brothers, one sister and one grandchild.

Mr. Crane was a member of the United Methodist Church in Dows.
