Mildred Emma (Olk) Harris Peyton
19 October 1929 --- 7 April 1997

Mildred Emma (Olk) Harris Peyton was born October 19, 1929 near Hampton, the daughter of Toby and Clara Brammer Olk. She grew to womanhood and received her education in the Coulter area.

On September 5, 1948 she and LaVerne G. Harris were united in marriage at the Immanuel United Church of Christ in Latimer. This union was blessed with five children. The couple farmed south of Coulter and in 1983 moved to town. He passed away January 17, 1985. Mildred worked at Maytag in Hampton for 17 1/2 years. She then worked at Dudley's Corner and that is where she and Avron Peyton met.

Mildred was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Latimer and the Lutheran Women's Missionary League, the Coulter Community Club and Coulter Auxiliary.

Her survivors include her children: Judith Penaluna and husband Joel of Iowa Falls; Janet Morgan and husband Bret of Plainfield; Cheryl Rusley and husband Philip of Hampton; Joyce Borcherding and husband Tim of Coulter; Bruce and his wife Anette of Hampton; 13 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one brother, Leonard Olk of the Iowa Veteran's Home in Marshalltown and one sister, Frances Larsen of Hampton. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son David in 1960 and one granddaughter, Sarah Johnson in 1984.
