Mabel Lenore Kennedy Paine
26 July 1887 --- 11 April 1928

Mabel Lenore Kennedy, daughter of S. D. and Clara Kennedy, was born near Dewitt, Iowa on July 26, 1887. In 1894 she came with her parents to Wright county which has since been her home.

At an early age she professed her faith in Christ and became a member of the United Presbyterian church of Goldfield, which has always been her church home. She was very active in all church and social affairs while her health permitted and retained her interest in them until the very day of her death.

She graduated with honors from the Goldfield high school in 1904, after which she taught school for two years.

On April 3, 1906 she was united in marriage to Raymond S. Paine. Five children were born of this union, one of whom, Pauline, passed away March 1, 1920, at the age of six years. The other four children, Lynn, Donald, Leone, and Ellen are all left in the home to mourn the going of a devoted mother.

During the last ten years she has been gradually failing in health and the last few years has been confined to her home. Her cheerfulness and interest in life in spite of her invalidism have been an inspiration to all who knew her.

About the first of April she suffered an attack of influenza. She made a gallant fight for life, but her condition made recovery impossible, and she quietly slept away at 6:40 a.m., April 11, 1928.

Besides her children she leaves her husband, her mother, four sisters, and four brothers, numerous other relatives, and a countless multitude of friends.
