Myra L. Wilaby Oleson
28 October 1913 ---- 1 September 1997Myra L. Oleson, 83, of Dows died Monday, September 1, 1997 at the Dows Health Care Center where she had resided since February 9, 1990.
Funeral services were held Friday, September 5, 1997 at First Presbyterian Church, Dows. Burial was in Fairview Cemetery, Dows. Elledge Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Myra L. Wilaby was born October 28, 1913 in Robertson, Iowa, the daughter of Jesse and Adeline Bacon Wilaby. She received her education in Iowa Falls where she graduated from Iowa Falls High School in 1931. After graduation she worked as a waitress for the Sander's Cafe in Dows.
On May 23, 1937 she and Henry J. Oleson were married. They eloped to Memphis, Missouri and were married by Reverend Ray, a former Dows clergyman. The couple made their home in Dows. On March 20, 1979, Henry died.
Myra is survived by one daughter, Karen Hill and husband Lloyd of Des Moines; two sons - Dean and wife Corinne of Melbourne, Florida and Gary and wife Nona of Clinton; one granddaughter; two adopted grandsons; two sisters - Arlene Winslow of Carlsbad, California and Gail Simcox of Grand Island, Nebraska. Her parents, husband and three sisters - Evelyn Wilaby, Viola Anderson and Lela Elings preceded her in death.
