Funeral services for Dorothy M. Olson, 70, of Dows were held from the First Lutheran Church in Dows on Saturday, May 18, 1991. Burial was in Fairview Cemetery, Dows. Elledge Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Dorothy Olson died unexpectedly at her home Thursday morning, May 16, 1991 of an apparent heart attack.

She was born on a farm near Alden January 1, 1912 to George A. and Jennie Schafer Miller. She attended country school through eighth grade and graduated from Dows High School in 1929.

On December 12, 1940 she married Jens Olson at Webster City and they made their home five miles south of Dows and farmed for five years. They then moved four miles west of Coulter and farmed for five years. In 1949 they moved to their current location and continued farming.

Survivors include her husband, Jens of Dows; one son Larry of Lisbon, Wisconsin; four grandchildren; one brother Bruce Miller of Webster City and four sisters: Fern Denger of Buffalo Center; Otella Johnson and Gail Reingardt, both of Iowa Falls and Marjorie Harter of Farnhamville. Her parents, three brothers and one son, Roger, preceded her in death.
