Joseph Elmer Oler
6 April 1869 ---- 10 January 1955

Dows - J. E. Oler, 85, a resident of Dows for 60 years, died Monday, January 10. Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at the Presbyterian Church. Burial was in Fairview Cemetery.

He was born April 6, 1869 at Polo, Illinois and came to Dows in 1894. He was married to Amanda Bellman December 21, 1899 who preceded him in death in June 1913.

He was married August 23, 1916 to Myrtle Dielman. For 41 years, he was engaged in the hardware business here, retiring in 1946.

Surviving are his wife and four children: Lyle of Dows; Mrs. Neva Kinseth of Belmond; Mrs. Faye Lavia of Des Moines and Mrs. Jean Swan of Springfield, Massachusetts; 15 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
