George Francis Bawn
21 September 1887 ---- 24 August 1964

Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the First Methodist church for George F. Bawn, 76, who died unexpectedly Monday afternoon. The Rev. Lyle Lieder officiated, and burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery. Mr. Bawn is survived by his wife and one daughter, Mrs. Del Deischer of Webster City, one sister Mrs. Clarence Emerson of Eagle Grove and two grandchildren.

Mr. Bawn was born at Parkersburg Sept. 21, 1887 and his parents were the late Mr. and Mrs. Newton Bawn. The family came to Wright County when he was five years old and farmed southwest of Eagle Grove.

He retired about 13 years ago, and Mr. and Mrs. Bawn moved to their home, 607 South Commercial Ave. He had a great interest in the collection of rocks and many groups of school children and adults have gone to the Bawn home to hear his lecture and to see the rocks.
