The community was saddened to learn Saturday of the death of M. J. Haskin, father of Engineer George Haskin, of this city. The funeral services were held Monday and the burial was in Rose Hill cemetery. The following obituary was prepared and read at the funeral services by Rev. W. G. Muhleman.

Obituary

Micah Joseph Nathan Haskin was born in Cedar county, Iowa, April 27, 1847. He was a member of a family of four brothers and three sisters of which he was the last living member. When he was a young man, he spent four years in the gold and silver mines in Colorado. He returned to Audubon, Iowa, about 1878.

He was married to Hattie Dickey on Feb. 14, 1880. They moved to Stuart, Neb. in 1884, where they were engaged in farming till 1890. He went into the hardware business in Stuart and kept at this till 1896. He then entered the employ of the International Harvester Co., where he remained till 1907, when he moved to Eagle Grove.

For years he has been a member of the Presbyterian church in Stuart, Neb. He was also a member of the Degree of Honor, which is the auxiliary to the women's order of A. O. U. W.

Mr. Haskin was not sick long but passed away at his home on Saturday morning, Jan. 3, 1925, having attained the age of 77 years, 7 months, and 6 days. He leaves his wife and the following children to mourn: Roswell A., of Minneapolis, Minn.; George B., of Eagle Grove, Iowa; Bertha Porter, of Blair, Neb.; Harry H., of Denver, Colo.; and Leroy R., of Omaha, Neb.; also a number of grandchildren. One son, Edwin L., preceded him to the other world on June 7, 1914.
