Mrs. Carrie Hill, 80, died Saturday at her home, 1013 No. Wright St., following an illness of four years.

Mrs. Hill, a resident of Eagle Grove and vicinity for seventy years, is survived by eight children. Orville, Gaylord and Melbourne of this city, Mrs. O. S. Nelson, Britt; Mrs. Harriet Johnson, Fort Dodge; Clifford of Goldfield; Mrs. Raymond Paine and Mrs. Lawrence Nerem of Renwick. Her husband died in 1925, and the family moved to the present home in Eagle Grove from the farm.

Also surviving are one sister Mrs. Marie Amdahl of Eagle Grove, fifteen grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at the Evangelical Lutheran church in charge of the pastor Rev. Kenneth Torvik. Interment was at the Holmes Lutheran cemetery.

Obituary

Mrs. Carrie Isabelle Hill was born August 25, 1872 to John G. and Gertrude [Gudraad] Grodeim Johnson at Pontiac, Illinois. She died at her Eagle Grove home April 25, 1953 after a lingering illness for four years, at the advanced age of 80 years and 8 months. She came with her parents to a farm near Eagle Grove in 1883. She married Earl J. Hill. March 7, 1900. After eight years on a farm at Holmes, they moved to Gorham, North Dakota. In 1918 they returned to Wright county and lived on a farm near Eagle Grove. Following her husband's death in May, 1925, she moved with her family to her present home on North Wright Street.

Eight children survive her: Gemina, Mrs. O. S. Nelson of Britt, Mrs. Harriet Johnson of Ft. Dodge, Clifford of Goldfield, Georgia, Mrs. Raymond Paine of Renwick, Orville of Eagle Grove, Pearl, Mrs. Lawrence Nerem of Renwick, Gaylord of Eagle Grove and Melbourne of Eagle Grove.

She is also survived by a sister, Mrs. Marie Amdahl of Eagle Grove, by 15 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, and by many nephews and nieces. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by five brothers, Sam, Peter, Bert, Ole and Joe and by a sister Jennie, Mrs. Gus Gunderson.

She was a faithful member of Eagle Grove Evangelical Lutheran Church and the Ladies Aid, and devoted to her family.

A prayer service was held at the home Tuesday at 1:30, followed by funeral services at Eagle Grove Evangelical Lutheran Church, Kenneth R. Torvik, Pastor. Interment followed at Holmes Lutheran Cemetery.
