The sad news was learned last Thursday morning that Mrs. J. G. Johnson had died the night preceding at her home on North Wright street, Eagle Grove.

Both Mr. and Mrs. Johnson are very well known here, having been residents of Wright county since 1883. The sympathy of the entire community is extended the sorrowing relatives.

Obituary

Gudraad Grodeim was born April 8, 1849, in Strand, Stavanger, Norway. She came with her parents to the United States, to Illinois, in 1866. March 4, 1869, she was married to John G. Johnson at Pontiac, Ill. The young family lived in Illinois for some years, after which they moved to Hardin county, Iowa, and in the spring of 1883 moved to their farm 5½ miles northeast of Eagle Grove, Iowa, where they lived till March 1903 when they moved to Eagle Grove where Mrs. Johnson died Wednesday, May 6, 1925, age 76 years and 28 days.

She is survived by her husband and eight children viz. John M. Johnson of Holmes, Mrs. Carrie Hill and Peter Johnson, both of Eagle Grove, Bertel Johnson, of Bellfield, N. D., Mrs. Marie Amdahl of Holmes, Ole Johnson and Mrs. Jennie Gunderson, both of Eagle Grove, and Joseph Johnson, on the old farm home northeast of Eagle Grove. She also leaves 29 grandchildren
and two great grandchildren.

Mrs. Johnson has been poorly the last 14 years, but she suffered patiently giving herself over into the hands of her Savior. We never heard a complaint.

March 4, 1919, Mr. and Mrs. Johnson celebrated their golden wedding anniversary.

Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon from the home on North Wright avenue, and the East Side Lutheran church. Burial was made in the Holmes cemetery.
