Adolph Olie Amdahl was born to the parents, Swen and Lena Amdahl, March 27, 1879, at Strand, near Stavanger, Norway. He was baptized in infancy into Christ and confirmed in the Lutheran faith in his home near Stavanger.

In 1900 he came to America to the vicinity of Eagle Grove, and later moved to a farm near Holmes, Iowa. Early this spring he and his family moved to J. G. Johnson’s farm south of Holmes, the place to which he came when he came to this country 35 years ago, and at this place he died Saturday evening at 8:30 o'clock, June 15, 1835, at the age of 58 years, two months and 19 days.

Mr. Amdahl had been falling in health during the last year, but bore it patiently, giving himself into the hands of his Saviour.

In 1906 he was united in marriage to Marie Maline Johnson of Eagle Grove. To this union was born five children of whom one son, Joseph Gerhard, preceded him in death 13 years ago. Mr. Amdahl was a dutiful and loving father and husband.

He is survived by his wife, Marie Amdahl; and four children, Sylvester, Myron, Gertrude and Marjorie, who are all at home. There are also six brothers and one sister surviving him, Lewis and Berdenous of Eagle Grove; Ole, Magnus, Swen of Stavanger, Norway, and Marion Amdahl. One brother, John, preceded him in death 20 years ago.

Besides his grief-stricken family, there are left to mourn his departure many relatives and friends who greatly miss him.

Ever since he moved to the vicinity of Holmes, Mr. Amdahl has been a member of Holmes Lutheran congregation, where he was a quiet and regular attendant and we hope that the words which he heard bore fruit in his heart to his eternal salvation.

Funeral services were held Tuesday at the home and at the Holmes Lutheran church, conducted by the Rev. H. S. Fauske. He was laid to rest in the cemetery two miles south of Holmes.
