Bonnie Eckhoff, 93, Belmond, died Dec. 20, 2020 at the Rehabilitation Center of Belmond. Visitation will be Tuesday, Dec. 22 from 4-6 p.m. at Andrews Funeral Home. Services will be Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. at the First Reformed Church of Meservey, with a viewing an hour before. Burial will take place at a later date. The family requests that masks be worn and social distancing respected. Memorials are suggested to the church or the Lyric Theatre. The funeral will be live-streamed on the Andrews Funeral Homes Facebook page.

Bonnie, the daughter of Chester and Sena Dasen Gunderson, was born March 4, 1927 in Ottosen. She attended school in Alexander, graduating in 1945 as salutatorian of her class.

Bonnie was united in marriage to Richard Eckhoff on Feb. 1, 1945 at the Reformed Church in Alexander. To this union, children Julie, James (Jim) and Jon were born.

Bonnie was truly a farmer’s wife. She worked side by side with her husband and always made sure there were delicious meals on the table. She was a long-time member of First Reformed in Meservey where she taught catechism when her children were enrolled in that program, and was a member of the women’s guild, cutting pies and doing dishes.

Bonnie loved travelling with her husband when he delivered Winnebagos. She loved visiting Graceland, as she was quite an Elvis fan.

For ten years in “retirement” she worked at Printing Services in the bindery department. She also loved volunteering at the Lyric Theater where she made popcorn. She enjoyed swimmersize class and walking around town. Bonnie was known for baking homemade buns, which she shared with family and friends.

Bonnie was preceded in death by her daughter Julie Boelman; grandson Brian Eckhoff; brother Dean Gunderson; and brother-in-law and sister-in-law Stewart and Connie Eckhoff. Bonnie is survived by her husband Richard; children Jim (Connie) Eckhoff of Meservey and Jon (Dawn) Eckhoff of Rochester, MN; son-in-law David Boelman of West Des Moines; grandchildren Kimberly (John) Grzywacz of Huxley, Brandon (Valerie) Boelman of West Des Moines, Grant (Brianna) Eckhoff of Rochester and Emily Eckhoff of Rochester; great-grandchildren Emily Grzywacz, Jeremy Grzywacz, Danielle Wilkinson, Jeremiah Wilkinson, Jonah Grzywacz, Benjamin Eckhoff, Broderick Boelman and Kellen Boelman; and sister-in-law Mavis Gunderson of St. Louis, MO.
