Francis Richard Jones
18 January 1908 ---- 24 December 1932

Francis Richard Jones was born January 18, 1908, at Eagle Grove, Iowa, to Arthur M. and Genevieve Jones, and entered into rest Dec. 24, 1932, at his father's home in Eagle Grove, at the age of 24 years, 11 months and 6 days.

Francis had been in failing health for some time, having had a fall at the age of 12 which injured his nervous system, gradually becoming more nervous and more frail.

His residence has always been at Eagle Grove with the exception of short stays with his mother at Ft. Dodge.

On April 14, 1931, he was married at Gladbrook, Iowa, to Clara Marie Cook of Fort Dodge. To this union was born one son, Orlo Charles, who died Nov. 29, 1932, at the age of six months. Francis did not recover from the shock and grief of losing his son, losing ground rapidly in his fight, for health. His last illness was very brief and unconsciousness mercifully relieved him from his suffering.

He is survived by his widow, his parents, one sister, Olive Burnhambert of Eagle Grove, one brother, Orlo, having preceded him to rest on Dec. 28, 1931. He has also five uncles and aunts and several cousins.

Francis received all his schooling in Eagle Grove, having been especially interested in athletics of all kinds.

On Aug. 29, 1920, he was baptized at Waterloo, Iowa, into the Church of God, of which he remained a faithful member until the last.

Funeral services were held at the Wilson Funeral Home at Eagle Grove, Dec. 26, J. W. Williams of Gladbrook officiating. Interment was made at Rose Hill cemetery.

"No Night There" and "My Faith Looks Up to Thee" were sung by Will Flower and George DeForest, Mrs. DeForest accompanying. Mrs. A. L. Woodson and Mrs. Carl Bruswitz had charge of the flowers.

Six high school classmates acted as pallbearers, Carl Arne, Floyd Midland, Tillman Thompson, Norman White, Verle Grimes and Ed Gross.

Those attending the funeral from out-of-town were: Mr. and Mrs. R. O. Jones and son, Wendel, Mr. and Mrs. C. D. Cleveland, Homer Cleveland, Mr. and Mrs. Max Dvorken, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Simmons and Earl Sturgis of Ft. Dodge, Mrs. Jeanette Jones and Mr. and Mrs. T. J. Ellis and family of Waterloo, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Riley, Elinor Knight, and Dorothy Riley of Stanhope, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Daniels and Marie Daniels of Webster City, Mr. and Mrs. Rickel and son Don of Belmond, and James Cooke and Chas. Cooke of Fort Dodge, father and brother of Mrs. Francis Jones.
