George Ernest Scott, Sr.
13 March 1914 ---- 11 December 1985

George Ernest Scott, Sr., the son of George E. and Blanche B. Tunnison Scott, was born on March 13, 1914 at Eagle Grove, Iowa. He grew up and received his education in Eagle Grove. He had lived and worked most of his life in Eagle Grove. During World War II he served in the 101st Airborne Division of the United States Army in the European War Zone. After receiving his discharge, he returned to Eagle Grove. He was united in marriage with Norma Larson Barkis on June 25, 1950 at Oelwein, Iowa and they made their home in Eagle Grove and he worked at Boone Valley Co-op Processing Plant from 1954 until he retired in 1977. He had been in poor health for the past several weeks and died at the Veterans Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa, on Wednesday morning, December 11, 1985, at the age of 71 years, eight months and 28 days. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Eagle Grove.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Norma Barkis Scott of Eagle Grove; his son, George E. Scott, Jr. of Eagle Grove; his daughter, Mrs. Eleanor Campisi of Humboldt; three grandchildren, Kevin, Kristen and Kelly Campisi, all of Humboldt, and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services for George E. Scott, Sr., 71, of Eagle Grove, were held on Friday, Dec 13,1985 at 1:30 p.m. at the Kastler-Babcock Funeral Home. Rev. Paul Schaedig, pastor of the Eagle Grove Evangelical Lutheran Church, officiated and burial was in the Rose Hill Cemetery, Eagle Grove. Presentation of the United States flag was made at the graveside by the Eagle Grove Veterans Organizations. Visitation was held on Thursday at the funeral home.
